Head of Islamic Banking

A leading bank in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Senior Head of Islamic Banking to take the lead on its Islamic product portfolio and drive the next phase of business growth. This is an opportunity to shape product strategy, strengthen the bank’s market position and deliver commercially successful, Shari’ah-compliant solutions across its retail banking business. The role would suit an established Islamic Banking professional who combines strong product expertise with commercial acumen and a good understanding of customer needs and market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Islamic Banking product strategy, ensuring the offering remains competitive and aligned with business objectives.

• Oversee the development and management of retail banking products, from initial concept through to launch and ongoing performance.

• Identify opportunities to grow the customer base, increase product penetration and improve portfolio profitability.

• Review product performance, pricing and market trends to identify areas for improvement and new business opportunities.

• Work closely with sales, marketing, operations and technology teams to bring new products to market and improve existing offerings.

• Ensure Islamic Banking products comply with Shari’ah principles, regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.

• Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, Shari’ah advisers, regulators and external partners.

• Lead and develop the product team, setting clear priorities and ensuring effective delivery across the business.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 15 years of banking experience, including senior-level responsibility in Islamic Banking and product management.

• Strong experience in retail banking products, with exposure to corporate banking also beneficial.

• A good understanding of the Islamic Banking market in the UAE, ideally supported by international market exposure.

• Strong knowledge of Shari’ah-compliant products

• A track record of developing and launching products, managing portfolios and delivering commercial results.

• Good understanding of UAE banking regulations, risk management and Shari’ah governance.

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with senior stakeholders across different business functions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing or a related field.
