Head of Operational Risk Management

An excellent opportunity is available with a Banking Institution, one of the largest in the Middle East, for a Head of Operational Risk Management to be based in the hub location of Baghdad in Iraq.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop risk management strategy and risk appetite in line with Basel requirements and the Bank’s overall strategy
• Develop and enhance the Bank’s risk management infrastructure, governance, policies, guidelines and manuals and methodologies to identify, measure, monitor and control all types of risks.
• Identify potential areas of vulnerability from the perspective of risk management and develop methods for minimizing and controlling risks
• Monitor the performance of the bank’s credit portfolio from a credit risk standpoint against the set guidelines
• Maintain the Credit Rating/ Scoring system(s) and ensure it is updated timely, and ensure it is adequately implemented
• Drive the effort of implementing Basel requirements for Risk Management and ensure adherence to these requirements & perform scenarios and Stress Testing and ICAAP.
• Review new products and changes to existing ones as part of new product development process.
• Manage the Operational Risks related aspects including Risk and Control Self-Assessment “RCSA”, incidents reporting, review of the bank’s policies & procedures and operational risk awareness and culture.

The Head of Operational Risk Management will possess extensive risk experience in a financial institution with extensive experience in risk related functions.
