Senior Manager, Data Engineering

* Senior Manager – Data Engineering is responsible for leading the hands-on design and delivery of enterprise data products, transforming raw Bronze-layer data into cleansed, conformed Silver and Gold-layer datamarts that the ML and AI teams consume to build AI products. * The role works closely with Data Platforms, Data Science and business stakeholders across Corporate and SME Banking to deliver high-quality, governed and performant data assets, and uses ML outputs to create actionable business intelligence.

Job Overview:

• Data Product & Datamart Delivery: Lead end-to-end delivery of data products, taking raw Bronze-layer data through cleansed, conformed Silver layers into Gold-layer datamarts consumed by ML and AI teams.
• Advanced SQL & Python Engineering: Build and optimise complex SQL on Amazon Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server (stored procedures, views, materialized views, functions) and Python pipelines, with strong performance tuning.
• ML & AI Enablement: Deliver Gold-layer datasets that enable ML and AI product development and use ML outputs to create business intelligence for Corporate and SME Banking.
• Data Modelling & Design: Design Silver and Gold data models using dimensional modelling, star schemas and slowly changing dimensions across multiple enterprise data sources.
• Platform & Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Data Platforms, Architecture and Data Science teams to build scalable data products on AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Athena, Lake Formation, SageMaker).
• Data Quality, Governance & Controls: Embed data quality checks, lineage, access controls and monitoring in line with ADCB data governance standards and CBUAE regulatory requirements.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide technical leadership to the squad, review code, set engineering standards and mentor data engineers, supervising up to two engineers where required.

Required:

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering and data warehousing.
• Extensive experience in banking, working with Corporate Banking and SME Banking data.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Amazon Redshift.
• Experience delivering medallion-based data products and datamarts for ML and AI consumption.
• Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring data engineers.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline.
• AWS Certification (Data Engineer or Solutions Architect) preferred.
