Senior OT Engineer (Utilities Sector)

Key Responsibilities

OT Strategy & Development

• Develop and maintain the Water OT roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Define OT standards, architectures, and technology frameworks.
• Lead technology evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and innovation programs.
• Identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, and operational improvements.

SCADA & Control Systems

• Manage the lifecycle of SCADA, HMI, Historian, PLC, and RTU systems.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of mission-critical control systems.
• Lead SCADA enhancements, upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
• Drive alarm rationalization and operational performance improvements.

Automation & Field Systems

• Develop standards for PLCs, RTUs, instrumentation, and field communications.
• Support pumping station automation and remote operations.
• Ensure integration between field assets and central control systems.
• Optimize telemetry and remote monitoring capabilities.

Digital Transformation

• Lead implementation of:
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Condition monitoring
  • Asset Performance Management (APM)
  • AI/Analytics solutions
  • Digital Twin initiatives
• Develop data integration strategies across OT and enterprise systems.

System Integration

• Manage integration between:
  • SCADA
  • Historian platforms
  • GIS
  • SAP/ERP
  • Asset Management Systems
  • Data Analytics platforms

Asset Management

• Develop lifecycle and replacement strategies for OT assets.
• Define technical specifications for new projects.
• Support CAPEX planning and technology investment decisions.
• Monitor OT asset health and obsolescence risks.

Project Delivery

• Lead OT projects from concept through commissioning.
• Review designs, FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities.
• Manage vendors, consultants, and technology partners.
• Ensure projects meet operational, cybersecurity, and performance requirements.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Control Systems Engineering
  • Automation Engineering
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• 10-12+ years of experience in Operational Technology environments.
• Minimum 5 years in critical infrastructure industries such as:
  • Water Utilities
  • Power Utilities
  • Oil & Gas
  • Energy
  • Industrial Infrastructure
