Accountant – Accounts Receivable & Revenue
We are seeking a commercially minded finance professional to lead revenue accounting and receivables within a fast-growing technology business. The role offers exposure to complex contracts, IFRS 15 revenue recognition, process transformation and stakeholder management. We are partnering with an innovative and rapidly growing technology organisation seeking a Senior Accountant – Revenue Accounting to join its finance team.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in a business that is transitioning from research and development activities into a commercially focused, revenue-generating environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of revenue accounting and receivables processes, working closely with commercial, legal and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the end-to-end revenue cycle from contract review through to invoicing, revenue recognition and cash collection
• Review customer agreements and determine the appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS 15
• Assess performance obligations, transaction pricing, contract modifications and timing of revenue recognition
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and company policies
• Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable balances, investigating and resolving discrepancies where required
• Monitor customer ageing and support collection activities to optimise cash flow
• Support month-end and year-end close activities relating to revenue and receivables
• Partner with commercial and business teams to understand new revenue streams and provide accounting guidance
• Assist with VAT compliance and reporting requirements relating to customer transactions
• Support internal and external audit requests relating to revenue and receivables
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and automation within the revenue accounting function
• Contribute to ERP enhancements, system implementations and process transformation initiatives
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• 3–7 years' experience within revenue accounting, commercial accounting or accounts receivable functions
• Strong understanding of IFRS 15 revenue recognition principles
• Experience reviewing contracts and assessing accounting implications
• Background within SaaS, software, technology, subscription, cloud services, telecommunications, licensing or other recurring revenue environments is highly desirable
• Experience working within fast-paced, high-growth organisations
• Strong ERP systems exposure, ideally SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA would be advantageous
