A leading global consultancy is seeking a Regional Finance Director to provide strategic direction and expert guidance for their regional finance unit based in Dubai. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape the financial agenda across multiple countries, partnering closely with senior leaders to drive business growth and ensure robust financial management. You would ideally be based in the UAE with proven regional experience.

What you'll do:

As Regional Finance Director, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of financial management across a diverse regional portfolio. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve setting strategic direction for the finance unit, guiding teams through complex challenges, and ensuring high standards of accuracy in reporting. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders to deliver business plans while maintaining rigorous controls that safeguard assets. By establishing clear KPIs and analytics frameworks, you will monitor progress against objectives and provide actionable insights. Your expertise will be crucial in managing statutory audits, preparing detailed accounts for internal and external stakeholders, and supporting company-wide initiatives such as bid document preparation or project risk reviews. You will also play an integral role in sustainability efforts by sharing responsibility for carbon emissions reduction during project delivery. Success in this role requires you to foster a high-performing team culture that exceeds expectations while promoting health, safety, wellbeing, and inclusivity throughout the organisation.

  • Lead the implementation of the regional finance strategy for a designated portfolio, ensuring strategic plans are executed effectively and operational delivery aligns with organisational priorities.
  • Maintain an effective financial control environment that mitigates risks of fraud or error, protecting cash, systems, investments, and other assets across the regional portfolio.
  • Establish analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring the execution of the regional finance strategy, providing clear insights into progress and outcomes.
  • Act as a finance business partner to the Managing Director for the region, supporting the execution of business plans and driving commercial success.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Finance Officer as part of the finance leadership team, offering expertise and counsel on all strategic finance matters within the designated portfolio.
  • Oversee comprehensive financial reporting adhering to international accounting standards (IFRS), managing statutory audits and ensuring accurate accounts across subsidiaries.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc management accounts and reporting requirements to meet statutory, fiduciary, country-specific obligations.
  • Review unallocated staff across the regional portfolio, proactively identifying risks or opportunities that may impact sector financial performance.
  • Provide monthly reviews of pipeline prospects with senior business stakeholders, ensuring leads and target gaps are accurately reported for executive summaries.
  • Issue regular debtors reports and accrued income reports, taking timely action on invoicing and collections while maintaining compliance with third-party reporting obligations.

  • Comprehensive expertise in financial leadership within industry settings, demonstrated by a track record of achievement leading large or complex finance units or sub-functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS) with proven experience managing statutory audits and preparing accurate financial reports for multi-country portfolios.
  • Highly developed analytical skills combined with advanced budgetary expertise to oversee complex financial planning processes.
  • Expertise in audit and risk management practices that ensure robust controls are maintained across all areas of responsibility.
  • Full accountancy qualification such as ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or equivalent certification.
  • Significant relevant experience in finance leadership roles at regional or multi-country level within consultancy or similar industries.
  • Advanced communication skills enabling effective engagement at C-Suite level as well as building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners including auditors, bankers, insurance brokers, tax advisors, joint venture partners.
  • Proven ability to manage direct reports (1-4) as well as indirect reports (over 8), fostering collaborative teamwork that delivers high performance against KPIs & OKDs.
  • Digitally savvy with technical literacy including working proficiency in Oracle systems for efficient data analysis & reporting.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities paired with inspiring leadership qualities that build effective finance teams focused on delivering organisational objectives.
