Head of Data (Banking Sector)

We are currently partnered with a leading bank in Oman seeking a Head of Data to drive enterprise data strategy, governance and analytics. The role will focus on improving data quality, enhancing regulatory reporting, and building a scalable data function with strong executive visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the enterprise data strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and lead enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and stewardship programs.
• Drive data quality initiatives, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and integrity of critical data assets.
• Oversee enterprise data architecture, data platforms, master data management, metadata management, and system integration.
• Lead business intelligence, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
• Enable data-driven insights across customer experience, risk management, fraud detection, and operational efficiency.
• Partner with Information Security teams to ensure strong data protection, privacy, classification, and resilience practices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, data retention standards, and supervisory expectations.
• Support regulatory reporting and manage data-related audits, examinations, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, business units, technology teams, and external stakeholders to promote a data-driven culture and improve data literacy across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data management, analytics, information management, or technology leadership.
• 5–8+ years in senior leadership roles within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
• Deep expertise in data governance, data strategy, data architecture, data quality management, analytics, business intelligence, cloud data platforms, AI, and regulatory reporting.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong strategic thinking, change leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities
